Recognition of Current Skills
RPL for your employees
It’s yourCHOICE!
Do you have skilled employees ready for a qualification?
Fast tracking to a qualified workforce makes good business sense.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is one way your employees can have their knowledge and skills assessed by the Registered Training Organisation - Choice Training Solutions. www.choicesolutions.com.au
Your employees deserve recognition
A qualification gained through recognition or an assessment-only pathway is just as valid as one gained through a training and assessment pathway. People often have extensive work experience and knowledge that have not been formally recognised. These people can be a great asset to your business.
RPL is one way your employees can have their skills and knowledge assessed by a RTO to see if they meet current industry standards. RPL assessment recognises a person's skills and knowledge no matter how, when or where the learning occurred. RPL can be used to achieve full or part qualifications and can be used to identify what further training may be needed to get a nationally recognised qualification.
If your employees have completed formal study relevant to their industry area, they may be eligible for credit transfer.
Having your employee's skills recognised makes good business sense
Staff retention benefits include:
Gaining recognised qualifications can be a strong motivating factor for skilled staff to commit themselves to your business.
Recognition supports succession planning for key positions and continuity of your business.
Recognition acknowledges and rewards staff for their experience and service.
Business growth opportunities include:
A more qualified workforce potentially increases productivity and improves your business reputation.
A qualified workforce helps your business retain an edge over your competitors.
Having qualified employees is becoming increasingly important in quality assurance for industries.
What is involved?
An employee going through an RPL assessment process will be asked to provide or demonstrate evidence to an assessor that their skills meet current industry standards.
You can help your employee through the process by:
allowing an assessor to observe your employee at work
providing information about your employee's work and skills
allowing an assessor access to relevant information (e.g. work samples, and/or documentation).
What are the costs?
You will need to check associated costs with the RTO (www.choicesolutions.com.au) undertaking the assessment.
Flexibility of an RPL assessment
RPL assessment meets the needs of individuals and employers by:
offering flexible options (e.g. providing for special learning, physical and language needs)
incorporating assessment into a standard workday (where appropriate)
identifying skill gaps to target future training investment.
